Schneider should start the next game. I get that Kinkaid's been hot and every game is so important right now, but at the end of the day Schneider is the team's starting goalie, if he's not playing well the team isn't going anywhere. Need to get him in there.

Ducks had same amount of shots in the first period as we had for the whole game. Seems to be the trend since the new year. Same goes for the coaching decisions. Schneider should of started and keep Bratt in/Stafford out.

I'd agree Cory should have started but I'm glad he had nothing to do with that train wreck. Had he been folks would be saying we would have won with KK.

I don't really get why the top line was split up anyway. Hischier and to a lesser extent Bratt are the best ones at being able to keep up with Taylor's style of play and also helps minimize the amount of board work the two kids have to do.

@Queenie

True.

One thing I've noticed this season is that a lot of Devils fans suck. When the team went 5 years without playoffs it seemed the majority of fans were fairly rational. Now that the team is in a playoff race, all sorts of idiots have come out of the woodwork.

Because going with a top heavy lineup is generally a bad idea and having Hischier on a second line makes them more dangerous. I liked the move, giving Hischier more responsibility. As long as he's with Hall, he doesn't have to 'be the guy', once you separate them, Hischier becomes the focal point of that second line.

It just hasn't gone well though. I'd reunite Zajac with Noesen and Hischier with Hall. Those combinations were working well.

Hynes pulled the classic overthink by playing KK on the B2B. Definitely not the biggest deal, and if they play like that it doesn't matter who's in net. But I'm definitely a little bit disappointed Hynes didn't take the gift of being able to free Cory without having to think about it too much. Instead, KK now is coming off a "bad" game (not that he blew it or anything) and a loss, and Cory still hasn't gotten in a game in over a week and a half.

One could argue Hynes has to go back to KK now, since he's playing him like he's the #1. You played him B2B, now he'll have a day off so he should start again right?

Really hope to see Cory Tuesday.

But they aren't more dangerous if it doesn't work right? And I think Palmieri is our 2nd best forward, so having him on the 2nd line certainly provides some scoring depth, and I think his style of play can work better with our other 2nd and 3rd liners than say trotting Bratt our with Boyle and Stafford or something.

I agree. That line was clicking and splitting up Halls line is just not wise. Schneids deserved the start and will hopefully be shouldering the majority of these games going forward. It doesn't look like CBJ or Florida are going to start losing any time soon.

I'd say at this point that Hischier is probably the Devils 2nd best forward. I can see the argument for Palmieri though.

The other thing is that the Hall-Zajac-Palmieri line worked great last season. It was pretty much the only thing that worked about last year's team. They were like 60% GF as a line, which is insanely good. It doesn't seem that chemistry has carried over this year though. My point is it's a move that made sense for a number of reasons (more scoring depth and line match ups on road since Zajac is the 'shutdown' center and Hall always gets the tough match ups) and I don't fault Hynes for trying it out. It hasn't gone well though and I'd end it.
